yes, im a very busy little bee at the moment...im am i still looking after, running, stocking, posting, adminning, and general dogs body of www.aboxofburlesque.com which is still getting many a visitor through its virtual doors, what with new designs for corsets, create your own corset range, new items in the tattoo inspired jewellery catagory, and about to take delivery on a new range of dresses too thats keeping us out of trouble.

we've obviously still got the corset parties on the go to...been abit quiet this month but still going out and visiting people with our goodies and the goody felicia noir as our performer and all round good egg!

the season has started now for the summer festivals and weekend events....im very excited im trading at my very first roller derby event this weekend....im very interested to see how well our stuff is received by the roller derby community? ive naturally been doing my research and im frankly bloody amazed by how many teams there are across the nation and how ive never been involved with them before! i think its important to keep the business moving with the waves so to speak...last year it was alot about the hot rod scene, the classic car scene and the vintage arena...this year im hoping to continue growing and expand into new areas...our stuff is so broad...im mean, yes, its burlesque by name but i think the products appeal to so many genres and are very flexible allowing me to trade at many different events, obviously with varying degrees of success but its still about getting the name out there at the end of the day! so thank you central city roller girls for taking me to your bosum!

well, this week is certainly a week for firsts as ive also got my very first burelsque performance at volupte lounge....thats london baby!!! im scared, yes, but im not concerned about the performance side as i think its bloody hilarious!! are the burlesque beauties ready for the rubber face of mama-sutra...god only knows! we'll see!!!

yes, im sorry, i know i should be all hyper about the wedding going on today but im much more excited about the new products we are offering!!! up loaded last night to http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/ is a new catagory called "Create your own corset" where you can pick the fabric, length, size, fastening and boning for yourself...instead of having to pick from already create corsets! so often at my Corset Parties ive heard people saying "oh, if only that was longer" or "i love the design but id want it in purple instead"....well now you can get exactly what you want!!

we have created pages on http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/ for each fabric type...a choice of brocade, deco, polka dots, satin, floral and many more in a variety of colours...you pick the fabric and then get to decide if you want a longline, shortline, or underbust and if you want steel boned or the more flexible spiral boned....finally you get to decide if you want it zip fastening or busk fastening!! i just loved the idea when i realised i could offer it and i dont know of any other place you can do this!! hope my customers like it too!!

also, things are really zipping along for "Mama-Sutra presents A box of burlesque" a night of comedy burlesque in birmnigham, broad street!! the tickets are £10 and for that we have fire performers, 3 top burlesque performers, 2 hula hoop performers, a singer, a magician, pole dancer and my debut burlesque performance too!!! its going to be a fantastic night as i wanted to offer so much that there isnt a lull in the evening...i wanted to bring back that concept of the cabaret night, the working mens/social club night where the family went and saw cabaret performers...it doesnt seem to exist outside the holiday camps now and its a shame as, coming from that background before becoming a burlesque mama i can tell you there is some fabulously talented people out there!! lets give them more of a forum than britains got talent!!!

well, wow what a busy weekend we have had here at http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/ !! we took a break from "a box of burlesque corset parties" to hit torquay for ruby slippers retro romp!! and romp we blooming did!! me and toni carter at "Classy Chassis Clothing" shared a stall and room for the weekend and though we were there to make money we seemed to pass alot of it over the bar too!! but who could resist letting their hair down with a fantastic line up like Pippa the Ripper, The Flirtinis, Mr B the Gentleman ryhmer and Anna Fur Laxi all in one weekend!!! awesome time was had by all and peeps really got into the spirit! though toni was kind enough to buy me a bucket and spade we never got to frolic on the beach but theres always next year!

what i was most impressed with was the running of the event and particularly the organisation of the burly night! it was a fab night, very welcoming to all manner of audience, there was nothing uncomfortable about it, just straight up cabaret in the best form possible. the audience were a medley of ages and persuasions..from die hard vintage lovers to hen nights, all throwing themselves in to the spirit of the night and everyone was welcomed with open arms!

thats what i want for my night!! Mama-Sutra presents "a box of burlesque"...a night of comedy burlesque! i want to appeal to everyone, i want to open my doors to audiences steeped in the scene, fresh burly enthuiasts, the curious and the confused!!! i want ladies, men, both, neither! i want hen nights and nuns on the run!! come one, come all to a night of top entertainment!!

taking place in the heart of birmingham city centre, at Highlight in Bar Risa on june 16th our first night has fantastic performers Kiki Kaboom, Fanny Divine, Felicia Noir and pole dancer Lulu LaRocca...i want something to be happening all night so hope to mix in other demonstrations/performances too!! theres an awful lot of preparation but it shoud be Fabulous!!!

hey hey peeps!!! its me again!! well, this we its all about ranking!!! on google that is!! its been meta-tag central over at http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/ , over 100 products and each one has to have a title, a description, a header title, a header description and a list of meta-tags or words that google pick up on the get your ranking up! i mean, how many of us will search past page 3 on google? if you type in corsets, you're offered a selection straight away so thats where i wanna be!!! trying to rank high takes alot of time and alot of effort! and plenty of links leading back to http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/... so far ive ranked top of page 3 for burlesque clothing so heading in the right direction at least!! pleased to say though that we are top of the first page for CORSET PARTIES!! on google so major celebrations to be thrown!!! dont know if you've seen it yet but we now have a new page on the website so click the link on the home page and take a look!!! our biggest announcement this week is the launch of our very own burlesque night!!!! yes, we have our own burlesque night to celebrate our first year anniversary!! details to follow very soon xxx

howdy pardners!!!

yes, look...two weeks in a row and im back writing another blog!! im being a good girl i am?!!

its been a very busy week...had a great photoshoot for some new products and revamping old shots for http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/ with my original "box of burlesque bitches"....felicia noir, hanny belle and lulu laRocca who not only models but blooming well takes the piccys too as owner, photographer and all round good egg of http://www.cherrypoppictures.com/ !! as we have started making our own fascinators and jewellery and bustles and stuffs there was a fair bit of new gear to add and it was good to get a response off the girls on the items...hopefully they were impressed and we got some good shots...i like to use the same girls as it gives a overall familarity to the site, like my customers feel they begin to know them too!!! plus, they are cracking people too!!

felicia is also a burlesque performer and we have started to collaborate on the "a box of burlesque corset parties"...so im now able to offer a burlesque performer on the night..maybe it'll encourage some guests to try the tassels on too!! only had one party so far with some brave souls who pastied on the pasties!! funnily enough them pictures never made it to facebook!! keeping on the corset party theme i now have a new page on the website http://www.aboxofburlesque.com/ advertising the corset parties with some great action shots!! hopefully that'll get more people booking up but you'll have to be quick as im now taking bookings for august!!!

so...as ive got corsets to order, dresses to wrap for postage, etsy to restock and websites to maintain i'll run for now but i'll be back next week...promise!!!

oh gosh!! how bad am i??? NOVEMBER!! that's utterly unacceptable behaviour for a burlesque mama of my standing!! erm...sorry miss, my dog ate my blog!! no, no excuse will cut it I'll just have to go and stand in the corner and think about what I've done!!

in truth...what I've done is an awful lot!! we've had a lot of changes over the last few months...the biggest being that we now have focused all our time and energy to www.aboxofburlesque.com and have closed the two other sister sites that were attached to it. Burlesque is the way forward! it was so difficult maintaining all three sites and "A Box of Burlesque" was so popular that it seemed the major website! so, we now have a brand spanking new site, new pics, new products and are growing in followers every day!! A box of burlesque is like Frankensteins monster! corset clad she lumbers forward on her bordello shoes sweeping maidens into her arms and plonking a feather fascinator on their pretty little heads!! from the heart though i am extremely grateful and slightly humbled by the lovely comments I've had from customers and browsers alike...all i ever wanted was to give ladies (and by default their partners!) some happiness and confidence in how they look...speaking from experience, as i became a mother i became a "plus size" and knocked in confidence and self esteem I've slowly clawed it back with the help of some beautiful clothing and a compliment or two! so thank you for being so supportive and i hope I've put a smile on your faces!! (feel like i should be holding a shiny statue or summat!)

anyhow...away from the mushy stuff we've also been making a lot of the products ourselves now..we've introduced our Personalised Necklaces and they've gone down really well and now I've started to make fascinators and bustles myself too...my bustles are something you'd see down the aisle of a big fat gypsy wedding..I'm in love with every one i make and as I'm just about to launch them on www.aboxofburlesque.com i will fight anyone who tries to purchase them!!

the biggest success though of the last few months has to be "A Box of Burlesque Corset Parties"...where i take most of the products to customers houses and they get legless and lace in!!! they are so much fun and though i have personally travel the length and breath of the British isles in the last month alone I'm loving get to meet fabulous people...some who are corset aficionados and some burlesque virgins! i must admit turning the virgins is a personal favourite of mine...seeing a woman fall in love with the feeling of what a corset does for you is fantastic..and mainly they end up standing in their corset for a good fifteen minutes simply stroking their waists!! so, we have a laugh, play a game and get dressed up...and so well have they been going that I've also added in a burlesque performer too now!! (NO, not me although i keep dreaming up great routines!) anyone wanting a party email sales@aboxofburlesque.com but get in quick!!

so...i promise i haven't been wasting my time watching Loose Women and eating donuts...I've been working hard and even after this I'm preparing for my Marie-Antoinette tea party tomorrow followed by some crafting and a corset party at the weekend!!

the parties are going fantabulously and we're getting a great response. we're quickly on our way to being booked up now for the weekends but mama-sutra is not biased towards these days and will work any night asked so dont be frightened, shes harmless if alittle eccentric!!! next weekend im sending her to the sunny isle of kent for two parties so shes earning her keep!!
we have introduced a new range of arcylic necklaces too, handpainted by our exclusive "mystery designer"....we have mastered the art of customisation now and can make to order so get intouch!!

Well! A Box of Burlesque Corset Evenings are off and running and with great success! We had two over the last weekend alone! The evening consists of Mama-Sutra bringing her corset wares and little goodies to your home or local venue, games and booze ensue and we strip off and lace in!! well, you dont have to strip but most girls ive had the pleasure of working with her gone with the flow!!!

Hello there burly believers!!

first off...a HUGE mahusive apology for not being upto date with my blogs...yes, i can use all the excuses under the sun.."ive been busy", "my computer broke" or "the dog ate me!" but the truth is...with everything else going on i just havent got round to it! but from now on i will be more forthcoming with my bloggeries...i promise...cross my feather fans and hope to dye!! (my hair!)

so...a box of vintage is now open and providing the very best in vintage inspired dresses, upto a size 22 and that alone is receiving amazing responses from peeps! its nice to cater for the curvier girl and to add to this i did a curvy girl shoot with claire hearne at http://www.cherrypoppictures.com/ , using fantastic model Felicia Noir (a regular box of burlesque model), the stunning Loula Cherry and the adorable Cherri Rocks...i must admit i was tempted to add in a "cherry" so i didnt get left out!! the shoot went exceptional well and im very lucky to have such fabulous people wanting to work with me...the results can be found at http://www.aboxofburlesque.com

we are now creating exclusive jewellery and hair accessories for http://www.aboxofvintage.com/ , and i have an amazing "mystery designer" working alongside me to create desirable pieces such as hair flowers, barrettes and necklaces...for halloween we even have a small selection of miniature pumpkins on hair clips!! my mystery designer and i have been lurking around till well gone midnight fervently making, glueing, sticking and generally arguing over what will sell and what won't...though im pleased to report that i was RIGHT as far as the "lovebirds" went and they are "flying" off the shelves much to my mystery designer's annoyance...he really doesnt like it when im right!!! (though i won't admit that he's probably right about not developing it into a nest full of lovebirds...that may be a bit much!!!)

though the trade events are mainly over now for the year we are gearing up with our "A box of Burlesque Corset Evenings"....a night of corsets, lingerie, hair accessories and general burly-ness! its had a great response and we are getting very busy...just when i thought i could rest after a summer of touring round, im taking to the car again to bring corsets to the masses!!! so, if you do want to book, don't be put off by the geography...have corsets, will travel!

ITS HERE!!! THE DAY WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR...(well, some more than others!) LAUNCH DAY!!!!

today sees the launch of www.aboxofburlesque.com with all its beautiful products and amazing accessories...!

its been a nervous day, hoping that people will like what they see, hoping that people will buy what they see, hoping that they will come back again...my stomach has churned all day with the endless worries and woes! its taken a very long time, (and an awful lot of money) to get to this point and now its here its like watching the child you've nutured go off to college and praying he makes some friends!! all i can do is keep a careful eye on my baby and lead the way when i can...other than that, you have to take a leap of faith!!

It has been a very busy week here at "Burlesque Towers!" Firstly...you may have noticed the above piccy...yes dears..thats me in vogue!!! well, no, not actually me...thats Aimee Lamour, im alittle larger than her but it is "A box of Vintage"...our older and not quite as saucy sister!! We were extremely pleased to be approached by Vogue to have an advertorial (thats an advert with words for us not quite as posh as vogue!) in there august vintage pages! but note..they approached us, not the other way round, "a box of vintage" is too proud to beg!! a box of burlesque though will take what she can get!

I've also had a meeting with "Pin-up for Heroes", www.pinupforheroes.co.uk a calender to raise money for "Help for Heroes" who are kindly using our outfits for the calender this year! they are using real everyday women, who have a connection to the forces, women of real sizes and shapes which is great...so there we were sitting in a little huddle, floor strewn with clothes and accessories asking "well, will she wear polka-dot bra and undies??" most of the women are game and looking forward to doing there bit!! it will be a fantastic experience for all involved im sure so keep your eyes open for when it goes on sale!

Lastly, our good news is our new dresses going upto a 24 are going to the manufacturers on monday... www.callmebetty.co.uk has been working with me and has come up with a fantastic plus size design so i cant wait to show you all!!

And most definately finally, we are just days away from going live with the shop so stay glued!

well, this weekend we are trading at "shakedown", a rockabilly event and they've forecast rain...so hopefully people will crowd the stall just to keep out of it and end up spending a fortune!!! theres wishful thinking!!

Busy Burlesque Bee!

Boy, have we been very busy little burlesque bees??! My ruffle panted behind hasnt stopped as we have been trading every weekend now for the last month! its difficult to know which part of the country we're in half the time...one minute im dubbing in dorset, the next im hotrodding in hampshire!! my vintage empire travels far to reach the burlesque babes of britain!! we've made a real effort with our trade stand (pictured left) and every event i get pin-upped and corsetted to show off my wares (and in some cases they are greatly admire by the men folk!). It is so wonderful to see the reaction though as there isnt another stand like it...its mostly tshirts and exhaust pipes, not much for the ladies so my gear is a welcome relief and the honeys come flocking!! there does seem to be an invisble line right outside the tent though that stops the geezers from entering...mine is normally the pitch that has a line of guys outfront all redfaced and shuffling feet...one was even heard to mutter "its a bit kinky in there mate" as a brave hearted gent crossed the barrier into burlesque wilderness!! then, there are the guys who brazen it out...stride forward and demand their women folk don corset and dance for them! these are the gents who are rewarded with free seam stockings for their bravery!! its nice to see the men getting involved, helping their dolls look good..after all, that way its win win for everyone!! Word has travelled fast round these events and people now seek out the "betty boop lady, the one selling the corsets!" (i dont know where the betty boop reference comes in but i take it as a compliment!) and have even had remarks comparing my corset enhanced figure to that of marilyn monroe....not a sentence i ever thought id hear or am likely to again im sure!

on the website side of things....we are moving ahead, im now in the process of uploading products and as time consuming as this is its exciting to know its almost "time"!!

so good burly people...if you see my little caravan travelling the darkest roots of the british isles...do give me a beep, you cant miss me...im the one that looks like marilyn monroe!!!

whey! ive got some of the pictures back from the product shoot and they are most awesome dude (as two wise philosophers once said)! im so proud of my little box of burlesque slash vintage slash delights! the photographer was andy simon from www.darkslidephotography.co.uk, a talented guy who has done alot of work for my websites and hopefully will continue to do so! it wasnt an easy brief..."i want product shots but i dont want them to look like product shots, so make sure the products are in the shots but dont concentrate on the products but focus on making it a good shot...ok?"!!
the idea was that i wanted "action" shots...i wanted the pictures to show something happening, and therefore the products (necklaces, hats, bags and erm..ruffle pants) would be shown "being used"...now, i know thats not the point of product shots but i think it brings the stuff to life, i think its more appealing if you can see the item being used or worn, if it catches your eye...i would rather see a dress on a real girl than on a doll and ive found that the fascinators and necklaces in particular are totally different items when being worn!
so with that in mind, we trapses off to the studio of www.cherrypoppictures.com with my box of burlesque bitches in tow! i like the idea of having resident models that are used continously on the website, that people become familar with, like naughty little sisters! and introducing other models for special catagories etc...i also like the idea of using real women..no restriction on size or shape...if we were all the same we wouldnt have to get our kit off to entertain others would we??! my girls are...the flirty felicia noir (who has a nice set of jugs so ive been told!)luscious Lulu larocca, hot hanny belle, cutey collette von tora, titivating toosie sugar (and not forgetting the admirable aimee lamour who has appeared on previous shoots!) these girls represent the fun of the burlesque/vintage scene and put that across in the pictures, they are also a great bunch to be with!
the results of the shoot speak for themselves...we had fun (andy sure did being the only man there, oh apart from the jewellery maker in the building opposite who had his filthy kitchen invaded by tootsies feather duster!) and its a pleasure to say that this is my job...ultimately, ive met a great bunch of people and if it all goes tits up tomorrow atleast i'll have that!
other news on the horizon...we are supporting the charity www.pinupforheroes.co.uk (run by andy simon) by supplying costumes etc for the lucky girls...a very worthy cause and it'll be fun to see the results too!
and also, we have taken on sponsorship of the amazing LEXI SEXX, a fantastic burlesque performer who i hope to bring you more news from very soon! x

first official blog from the burlesque beauty! the pimp momma bringing you all the best burlesque and vintage gear to satisfy your frivolous fixes!! the last few weeks have been a crazy whirl of corsets, fascinators, nipple pasties and admiring binks merkins!! (thats an in joke im afraid!!) ive been very fortunate to secure many creative and talented people wishing to help me on my road to decadent goodness and eager to show me the pit falls and positives around every corner...so, im able to bring some of the most exquisite pieces of jewelery, hair accessories, clothing and costumes from the burlesque, retro, vintage and rockabilly scene. And a thanks goes to Roxy Twirls and Cookie Noir, who little do they know it, were the first burlesque people i became friends with and that lead on to this...so thank you to girls!

so far, we're still in the process of preparing for our launch...im thinking decadent venue, amazing performers, and...err, plenty of booze! but in order to get the website up i need fabuloso fotos to show my products (and my harem girls!) off at their best...enter the box of burlesque bitches..a tour de'force of gorgeous faces and nice asses!! yes, here come the girls indeed!! Felicia Noir, Collette von Tora, Lulu LaRocca, Aimee Lamour, Hanny Belle and Tootsie Sugar..real women! so far we have taken over the electric cinema in Birmingham for a clothing shoot that produced some stunning images taken by Andy Simon at darkslide photography (fab!) done a rather hilarious but amazing fetish shoot and today we undertook the hardest job of all, the products shots!

necklaces, hair clips and fiddly bits aren't the easiest things to pictured but again, the team managed amazingly...and made it a fun and enjoyable day so thanks guys! you will be the making of the website (and possibly the death of me!!)...keep your eyes open for these pictures as it was a product shoot with a difference!

so, the next step is many days of uploading products to the site...then continuing with our nationwide plan to dominate the rockabilly scene one trade event at a time!!

“From tiny seeds mighty acorns grow…” and so, it may seem, does burlesque emporiums! From a tiny idea of wanting to be a working from home family, the “A Box of..” empire was born. One harmless click on a “friend request” and we were sucked into the decadent world of burlesque and vintage, a world containing beautiful costumes, fantabulous hair wear and lots of sparkly things! A world that once you enter, you never want to leave. Falling in love with the shiny things was easy, gathering it all together in one little “box” became an ambition…a box that contains all the things you need to make your life as decadent and beautiful as it should be.
